What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser when you visit it. They help the site work properly, remember your preferences, measure traffic and show ads. Similar technologies, such as local storage (localStorage), work in a comparable way. Types of cookies

  • Strictly necessary: needed for the site to work and to store your consent choices. They do not require consent.
  • Preferences: remember your choices, such as language or dark and light mode.
  • Statistics: help us understand how the site is used. Only set with your consent.
  • Advertising: used by Google and its partners to show ads, measure them and, if you agree, personalise them. Only set with your consent.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary

  • pll_language – Provider: HomeCasa (Polylang plugin). Purpose: remembers the language you chose. Duration: 1 year.
  • FCCDCF – Provider: Google (consent management platform). Purpose: stores your cookie choices under the IAB TCF v2.2 framework. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • FCNEC – Provider: Google (consent management platform). Purpose: stores information related to your consent status. Duration: up to 1 year.

Preferences

  • hc_theme – Provider: HomeCasa (site theme). Purpose: remembers whether you chose dark or light mode. Please note: this is not a cookie. It is a value saved in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). It is never sent to our servers, contains no personal data and stays until you clear it.

Statistics

  • _ga – Provider: Google Analytics. Purpose: distinguishes visitors to produce aggregated statistics. Duration: up to 2 years.
  • _ga_* – Provider: Google Analytics. Purpose: keeps session state to measure visits. Duration: up to 2 years.

Advertising

  • __gads – Provider: Google AdSense. Purpose: serves ads, limits how often you see them and measures their performance. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • __gpi – Provider: Google AdSense. Purpose: advertising functions similar to __gads. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • IDE – Provider: Google (doubleclick.net domain). Purpose: serves, personalises and measures ads. Duration: up to 13 months.
  • NID – Provider: Google (google.com domain). Purpose: remembers your Google preferences and personalises ads. Duration: up to 6 months.

How to change your consent

For visitors in the UK, the EU and the EEA, we collect consent through a Google-certified consent management platform that follows the IAB TCF v2.2 framework. You can accept, reject or choose which cookies you allow. You can change your mind or withdraw your consent at any time using the Privacy settings link at the bottom of every page.

To manage ad personalisation in your Google account, visit Google Ad Settings. To opt out of Google Analytics on all websites, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Look for Privacy or Cookies and site data in your browser settings. Please note that blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working properly.
